Vogue is really a trendsetter. And Vogue’s Italy site makes another first for the franchise by launching it’s own plus size community site, as well as a special site for women of color. This shows how much progressive the people behind Vogue wants the label to become.
The Curvy Site currently features famous curvaceous women like America Fererra and Lizzie Miller. It has content and fashion tips for voluptuous women. The Black site meanwhile currently features Tyra Banks and other interesting articles for the African-descent woman.
Common to both these sites are the layout. However, there is not much content yet but we’re definitely seeing some future in this. For years, women of color have been hoping to find their niche in the Vogue community. And Vogue Italia seems to be one of the few ones to take notice.
Kudos to Vogue!

Seen at the runway in this week’s Fashion week are models at the catwalk wearing the latest in nail polish color trends. Many of them had lovely fingers in TAUPE shade. Some carried them in matte, not the usual glossy type. This is the latest trend in nail polish wear. And you can get the color and the consistency in time for your Fall Fashion look.
Where to get it?

OPI has the Over The Taupe shade which cost about $5.25. It’s almost caramel like and would look really good for those with warmer skin tones.

Butter London has the Fash Pack which is a mushroom taupe nail shade. The bottle is a bit expensive than OPI’s, at $14.

This is a Classic Nicole Cosmopolitan. The shade has a soft shimmer and is sold for $8.
These polishes are available at your regular beauty stands.

Clothing brand, American Apparel, has recently launched a collection of nail polishes with really pretty colors, all inspired by the the brand’s themes and style choices. In fact, one of its shade, Factory Grey, is the actual color of the floor of the company’s manufacturing plant, while another, the minty green color, is inspired by the company’s color for its seventh floor, where the accounting department is housed. The polishes are priced at $6 per bottle and all 18 shades of it, where said to be toluene and formaldehyde-free.
However, weeks after its launch came this report that the nail polishes may in fact contain hazardous materials, and could threaten one’s health. Sources say that the company has quietly removed the collection off it’s stores, claiming there was something wrong with the bottle packaging so the nail polishes have to be restored.
American Apparel immediately issued a statement to address all the buzz going on around other blogs about its product containing lethal material.
The statement once again reiterates there’s a problem with the bottles and assures the public that the polishes are safe. Those that have originally bought the nail polishes before the recall, can trade their old bottle for a new one.
The official statement from American Apparel, as posted on the blog, Nitrolicious, follows after the cut…

Beyonce is finally launching her very first fragrance, “Heat”. The award winning singer and sometime actress has had this project for quite some time now, but has only been marked by delays because of a trademark case with another brand, Abercrombie & Fitch, over its name. Initially, Beyonce wanted to call the fragrance, Fierce.
Speaking of its name, it had evolved into Heat because, according to the singer, “A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat.’”
The new fragrance line is a mix of the following fragrances: magnolia, red vanilla orchid, blush peach, tonka bean, amber, honeysuckle, neroli, almond macaroon and crème de musk notes.
The collection also comes with a similar scented body lotion and is expected to be available in stores by next month. It will be launched in other continents, as far as Australia, by August.

Bummed about the year closing in? Does it remind you of the fact that next year, you’re going to celebrate another birthday again? Age gracefully and maintain a youthful look with these easy perk me ups:
- Hair colors are great for updating your look. But don’t over dye your hair to the point of looking so unnatural. Unless you’re dressing up for a Halloween party, just go with a little highlight to enhance your look. Keeping it natural is prettier and more youthful looking.
- Get in the habit of using concealers for a quick face lift. Dab a few under the eyes, the eye corners and to the side of your lips. See how much this will help give you a more refreshed look.
- Avoid cakey powders. This is so 1980’s. There are make up brands now that offer really natural looking powders. Check the mineral make-up line.
- Trim your brows regularly. Watch how this can quickly brighten up your face and your aura.
- Choose a lipstick shade that’s slightly lighter than what you used to wear. Pink glossy lippies make you look more younger than dark matte ones. Plus the gloss helps give the illusion of fuller, healthier puckers.
- Rosy pink cheeks mark a youthful, healthy skin. Get in the habit of wearing blushers.
- Get stretchy pants, specifically those with a few percent of Lycra in their material. Lycra provides good support and cups the butt cheeks better, giving the illusion of a firmer, more youthful body.
Lastly, learn to smile a lot!

I think 2010 will be Julia Robert’s comeback year. On top of the new movie she is doing, the Oscar Award winning actress has just been named Lancome’s newest ambassadress. In short, she will be endorsing the cosmetics line.
From Youcef Nabi, the President of Lancome: “By her remarkable personality and career, Julia Roberts is an emblematic woman of her time. Her exceptional talent, her radiance and her strong commitments, perfectly echo Lancome’s values. We are convinced she will embody the brand in the most sublime way possible.”
It’s so great to have Julia back in the press and everywhere. And becoming Lancome’s newest image model is a good call too as the brand is one of the most reliable make-up products which has established is quality and credibility over the years.

Hairstyle Magazine has just released their annual hairstyle trend issue. This time, the styles featured are very global, with hairstyles and trends from all over the world. Of the hundreds of pictures in here, it seems as though 2010’s frocks, locks and crowning glories will be any of the following:
1. Classics with a twist. Hair trends for next year will retain some classic quality, but will be more bolder and fancier. The roll-out-of-bed look will be more polished and updated.
2. Fringes will still be popular, for both short and long hair. This style adds volume and makes hair look softer and healthier so stylist are sticking with it.
3. More versatility and individuality. Cuts will be very adventurous, each of it making a stylish statement as the next one. Personal style and statement will be in vogue.
4. Color, color and more color. According to Danny Lapointe of Clairol: “No color is off limits this year! Blonde, brunette, and redhead are all in fashion, as long as they are soft, shiny, and multidimensional tones that look natural.”
5. Bob cuts and short hair is still very much in. Ditto with the shag, which many celebrities are already wearing these days. These cuts will be more structured .
