After the ombre hairstyle that’s making its way with trends, fashion is now saying that you don’t have to feel embarrassed about the gap on our teeth (I mean if you do have one). It’s only the latest in fashion statements and models or celebrities are actually having their teeth adjusted so that they can flash their pearly whites, with these gaps, during photoshoots.
If you see recent fashion layouts for Vogue and other magazines, Chanel and Marc Jacobs have plenty of models with their gapped teeth flashing for the cameras.
According to this Wall Street Journal article, casting directors for model shoots are keen on people who end up coming to go-see’s and auditions with gapped teeth as this, apparently, adds to their character and that people now want to see something different.
The same article also says that casting directors are also looking into “tattoos, piercings, scars and even albino coloring”.
The editor-in-chief for W Magazine says that “it’s society’s love for the imperfect and the authentic” that seems to warrant all these unkept and unmaintained look that’s becoming fashionable now. “These are values that are more and more important for younger generations. Originality, authenticity…in a world that is more and more digitally enhanced.”
Although, I have to wonder how authentic this becomes if some models actually go through surgery to have this done?
Do you think gap teeth is sexy? And would consider this a look that’s different? Would you have yours done, if it really takes off, fashionably?
