He would have to be the very first top designer to come out with a plus size line. Announced through his business partner, Robert Duffy, via Twitter the other week, Marc Jacobs is reportedly coming out with a collection for women over size 14 before the year ends.
Mr. Duffy himself considers his size as big or plus size considering he is about 210 lbs and stands at 6’4. He recognizes that there are not enough choices for bigger people in the high fashion market and have asked other Twitter users who follow their brand to come up with a name or phrase to replace the word.
Many designers do not do plus sizes because it is admittedly a challenge to design clothes for bigger women. But with this new development, we’re pretty sure other designers are going to follow suit.
