The annual list of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People is already out in newsstands and guess what? Marc Jacobs is the lone fashion designer to make it to the prestigious list.

His friend, Victoria Beckham, was asked by Time to write a very short piece on him, and some of the things Victoria says about the designer included this:

Marc Jacobs is undoubtedly one of the most influential designers of all time. He has never followed fashion or trends; he follows his heart and sets trends. His passion for popular culture infuses his designs with irreverence, color and energy. It’s what sets him far ahead of his peers. He is not afraid to go against the grain and never feels the pressure to conform.

I say Time got it right by putting him on the list, but I wonder why he’s the only designer when we’ve got some really talented and influential ones in the industry.
