Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen Dead at 40

The industry is mourning the loss of very talented designer, Alexander McQueen, who was found dead at his apartment. Early reports say the designer has committed suicide, as he apparently hanged himself. It’s been reported that the designer was so depressed by the death of his mother just a few weeks ago. But the official cause of death has not yet been determined.
Friends and family of McQueen has left this official statement on his site, which currently doesn’t have any of his works displayed, but just this official statement:
ON BEHALF OF LEE MCQUEEN’S FAMILY, ALEXANDER MCQUEEN TODAY ANNOUNCES THE TRAGIC NEWS THAT LEE MCQUEEN, THE FOUNDER AND DESIGNER OF THE ALEXANDER MCQUEEN BRAND HAS BEEN FOUND DEAD AT HIS HOME. AT THIS STAGE IT IS INAPPROPRIATE TO COMMENT ON THIS TRAGIC NEWS BEYOND SAYING THAT WE ARE DEVASTATED AND ARE SHARING A SENSE OF SHOCK AND GRIEF WITH LEE’S FAMILY.
LEE’S FAMILY HAS ASKED FOR PRIVACY IN ORDER TO COME TO TERMS WITH THIS TERRIBLE NEWS AND WE HOPE THE MEDIA WILL RESPECT THIS.
The designer, who was 40 at the time of his death, has made clothes for celebrities like Rihanna, Lady Gaga and the Prince of Wales.
He was also the designer behind Bjork’s very controversial dress at the awards nights some moons ago, when McQueen was just carving a name for himself in the fashion world.
Over the years, McQueen perfected the art of combining style and shock value and has come out with some of the most outrageous yet very creative designs of his time.

The designer would have been part of Fashion Week that’s happening this coming week and I was looking forward to celebrities wearing his design at the Academy Awards this March.
His death is definitely a huge loss.
