DownEast Basics, known to many shoppers in the greater Chandler/Phoenix area for its high-design looks at affordable prices, reported a successful grand opening weekend for its new store at the Chandler Fashion Center.

DownEast, which opened its first full retail location in Arizona at the Superstition Springs Mall in Mesa in December 2008, reported consumer demand remains high, as seen by both the crowds visiting the new Chandler store and purchases made since the store opened on Saturday, September 12.

Another determining factor leading to the opening of the new location was the success DownEast has had with its kiosk at the Chandler mall.

“We originally opened the Mesa store late last year, at a time when many economic struggles were just starting. Still, we saw our offerings actually grow in popularity with consumers due to our focus on stylish yet highly affordable fashions,” said Rich Israelsen, chief operating officer for DownEast.

“Over the past months since that opening, we’ve seen increasing demand for our clothes among local consumers, which to us was a very clear indication that we needed to expand our retail footprint in Arizona. We’re excited to give our Chandler shoppers, who until now have depended on our kiosk location in that mall, greater selection within our new lines for women and now, men and girls.”
