Yes, Virginia…there exist such an award and it is being given by an organization which has existed for over 101 years old! Why after all this time do most of us get to hear of such an group and such an award is also a mystery to me. Who were the previous winners, I wonder? And what do the winners actually get? And what do people int his club actually do? By the way, they really do exist. They even carry a website.
Earning 37 percentage of the votes, Brad Pitt, the Fedora wearing father of six (or seven? I’ve lost count of how many kids he has!) has been awarded this year’s Hat Person of the Year by the Headwear Association.
According to the group’s president — “We created this award to honor well-known people that wear a hat in their everyday life. This year, we tip our hat to Brad Pitt, who wears many hats on and off the screen and recently has been spotted globe-trotting in ivy caps and stingy-brim fedoras.”
And here I thought Fedora hats are way too funny-looking, pimpish and uncool, even for Brad Pitt. Turns out, a whole group of hat-loving people think it’s adorable! The actor bested five other celebrities to the title, namely Justin Timberlake (18%), Sarah Jessica Parker (17%), Samuel L. Jackson (11%), Jessica Simpson (9%) and Nicole Kidman (7%). Winners were chosen based on a poll held worldwide last August.
Congratulations, Brad! You and your funky looking hat have indeed gone places!
