Conde Nast is experiencing it’s largest drops in advertising pages (over 5,000 pages) and a revenue short of between $275 million and $350 million due to the continuing lack of revenue.  Due to this huge shortage they are likely in the red, or very close to to it.  While sales of the advertising pages are expected to pick up soon, the company has been forced to drop some publications and websites to stay afloat.

While Anna Wintour herself seems to think that all these problems have an interesting (if illegal) solution using a bit of price fixing, others have been having some rather good, (and legal) ideas on how exactly to keep the fashion industry afloat.

The ideas range from intended audience-specific (one for consumers, one for trade) shows to an assortment of other things. The personal favorite would have to be the limited run lines, and in season new products.  Which would eliminate the seasonal wait time between the runway shows to nthe threads actually arriving in-store.

Are any of these things enough to keep the industry afloat?  Time will tell.
