Having recently completed the casting session for the next round of “America’s Next Top Model,” the Penn Plaza Pavilion has demonstrated once again that it is one of the premier exhibition spaces in NYC.
Last Saturday’s casting session opened at 6:00 AM. Trepidation was high considering the prior casting call at a smaller venue resulted in a near catastrophe. The crowd peaked at an estimated 2,000 to 3,000 want-to-be models and their friends. The event went off incredibly smoothly with accolades from all parties.
“Our preparations reflected our experience from the many events that have been held in our facilities,” noted Kenny Thompson, Penn Plaza Pavilion’s Manager. “We worked closely with the great New York City Police Department to ensure that we were ready. The unblemished results speak for themselves.”
Barricades along Seventh Avenue and west on 33rd Street ensured an orderly flow of pedestrian traffic. The Penn Plaza Pavilion’s two-story 50,000 square foot space allowed for introductory security screening on the ground floor, with access to the second floor escalator restricted to those who completed this initial clearance.
The Penn Pavilion frequently works in concert with the adjacent Hotel Pennsylvania, and has direct access into its lobby. As an Energy Star awarded property, New York’s Hotel Pennsylvania is the fourth largest hotel in Manhattan with several elegant ballrooms. In this case, the Pavilion, which host large public events, was more than capable of its own success.
Remarked Mr. Thompson, “While we could not help with any individual model’s prospects, we were able to provide CW, the television network that produces the show, with a highly successful casting venue.”
