Valentine’s day is right around the corner. Many men and women are getting ready to pop the question to their significant others. So I decided to give you some wisdom in selecting the perfect ring for you future husband or wife. I am going to discuss the perfect gem, different setting, what type of cut would you like, and how many carats do you need.  I will also add so fun and funky alternatives to the typical “diamond ring”! Let get started all my designlookout.com readers! Today Lets talk about The stone!

The Stone

The Typical stone for an engagement ring is a diamond. Many women love diamonds but many do not. Emeralds can be a girl’s best friend too. There are many gemstones that are great for a ring.

Sapphires-Second only in hardness to diamonds.  These beautiful blue stones will add glamour and color to any ring, especially an engagement ring. Sapphire the birthstone for September. This stone is great for the “Something old, something new, Something borrowed, something blue” wedding tradition.

ruby

Rubies-Rubies are great. Many Rubies are as expensive as diamonds. Red is the color of love and passion, so this is a great stone to show love for others. Rubies are the birthstone for July.

Emeralds-Emeralds are not the most durable gemstones but very lovely. Emeralds add a great natural tone to any potential Bride/Groom. I also love this tone because it is my birthstone. May birthdays are awesome.

Diamonds- Kanye Was right, diamonds are forever. They are also the hardness of all. They are the traditional stone for an engagement ring. Diamonds also come in blue, green, black, translucent white, pink, violet, orange, purple, yellow, brown, and red. Try to buy conflict free diamonds, this way you are not support the violence in Africa due to the diamond market.
