Poor Michael Kors, he is getting sued! Yes, Kors is involved in a trademark-infringement suit. The Tony Duquette estate is suing Michael Kors due to used the Duquette name. You see Kors used the Duquett for his resort collection. Well if you do not know Tony Duquett, here is a brief history lesson.

Tony Duquett was an acclaimed artist and designer. Mr. Duquett designed for Hollywood great like Gloria Swanson, Greta Garbo, Fred Astaire, Vincent Minnelli,  Marion Davies, and many more. Tony Duquett’s designs for the original Broadway production of “Camelot” won a Tony Award for “Best Costume”. Duquett also designed furniture for many stars. So Duquett had a huge impact on the fashion and interior design community. So there is you fashion history lesson for today. You learn something new everyday.

OK, back to the drama! Michael Kors use of the Duquett name to market his resort collection was big no no. Especially when Kors did not ask for permission.  I personally think that Kors collection was an ode to the great designer Duquett. Do I think that the Duquett estate will understand-No!  Mr. Kors will probably have to get his lawyers out. The case will go to court, and drama will ensue. I wonder how this case will be like. Will this drama affect Michael Kors on Project Runway? Will the case end up on Court TV or Style Network? Just kidding. On a serious note not, I hope that this case can be resolved peacefully. I think that bringing the Duquett name back into the public eye was great for both parties. Many are not aware of Duquett and his influence on the fashion. I hope that this lawsuit will blow over.  Good luck Michael Kors!
