This style, which had been very popular in the grungy trend that hit the mid-90’s is now back and is going to be here for quite awhile, perhaps all through the Summer. But, unlike the rebellious style it had back then, wearing ripped jeans today is made more hip, classy and sexier.
You can wear your favorite ripped jeans by mixing and matching it with your favorite top. Some chick can get away with soft, lacey blouses in feminine colors. Others match this with a dressy blouse and a jacket to boot. Still others keep it plain with tank tops and ribbed shirts. Depending on the occasion, the rip jeans can be basic wear….as basic as regular jeans.
They come in different styles these days too. Some ripped jeans only have frays on the edges and that already works, while others may carry a big holes in the back or the knees. Either way, the distressed look is accented with little or a lot of accessories. You just have to learn to mix and match this, too. Some are skinny ripped jeans, which can actually look great with ballet flats still (a mix of edgy and classic!).
Although ripped and distressed, they can be a lot costlier than regular jeans. If you cannot afford to buy new ones or designer ones, the best way to go is to pick an old pair of jeans and distress this yourself. I just grabbed a couple of mine and turned them into comfy cutoffs with frayed edges and a slightly torn side pocket.
This look would really be great for the light seasons of Spring and Summer.

I made a shopping mistake yesterday and bought myself a pair of really cute ballet flats that seemed to fit fine when I tried it on at the store, but feels so much tighter now when I tried it at home. I think I these shoes a size too small and I don’t have anymore time to go back to the store to exchange it because the store is really too far from where I live. So, I’m gonna have to make do with what I have and live with this. Fortunately, a friend of mine has suggested some tips to make tighter shoes fit better.
This tip should also work if your body has undergone a few changes, such as pregnancy, which automatically makes feet slightly a bit larger.
1. Break in your shoes. Get them worn out a bit well days before you have to actually wear them. Wear the shoes for at least two days so that the materials stretch and you can also find your comfort and bearing with it.
2. Invest in a shoe stretcher. This can be found at handyman stores or shoe stores. It takes patience to be able to handle a shoe stretcher as the results does not happen for days. Also, be careful when you use this stretcher so that you don’t loosen the shoes too much and break it.

3. Get a shoe stretch spray. This is also available at hardware stores. The spray helps make the material more supple and thus, stretches.
4. Use a blow drier for your shoes. They say that when the shoes is heated up, it can be easily stretched so before you wear them, blow dry them first.

Planning a wedding this spring and looking for some new ideas for bridal headpieces and veils? Check out New York’s Bridal Runway for 2010 and you will be inspired by innovative styles to update your traditional look.
Here are 3 key trends to look for:
- Bird-cage veils are the retro-alternative to long, trailing veils.
- Add a whimsical touch by placing feathers on your headpiece.
- Try a hat on for size! Designers incorporated timeless Derby hats with the option of a veil for a fashion-forward look.
You can combine various ideas, but don’t go trend-overboard. Think about the style and vibe of your wedding. Having an outdoor wedding? Consider the hat for a unique 20’s look. You could also put a splash of romance into a simple, yet chic dress by entwining feathers throughout your hairstyle!

If Hollywood was High School, the Oscars was considered the Prom. And at the prom last night, we saw some of the most spectacular dresses these beautiful and dashing actresses and actors wore as they sashayed down the red carpet. Some of the night’s best-dressed include the following:

Carey Mulligan is actually a red carpet darling and once again, at the Oscar’s red carpet this pixie looking actress didn’t disappoint. Wearing an Erdem dress, one of the most original and hottest up and coming fashion designers, it perfectly matched her very quirky style.

I can sometimes never agree with what Maggie Gyllenhaal wears because she is an individual when it comes to style, but she effortlessly looks gorgeous in this Dries Van Noten print dress. She can carry this well, when not everyone will be able to.

This year’s Prom Queen is perhaps Sandra Bullock, who is making quite a splash for her movies, The Blind Side and The Proposal, in all awards shows left and right (including the Razzie’s which awards the worsts of Hollywood). The actress looks absolutely stunning in this pale gold gown styled with vintage fabric. It was designed by Marchesa. The lipstick though, not so much.

Vera Farmiga, another nominee for Up In The Air, looks absolutely fantastic in this ruffled pink dress. It may be too overpowering to be worn by someone else but she just made it work by especially wearing minimal jewelry.

Sigourney Weaver’s Grecian inspired dress may look plain if not for the deep red shade and black contrast. Then it look absolutely gorgeous. She dressed right for her age and figure.
Who among the stars were your best dressed favorites?

Maybe because there are so many competing fashion brands out there. Maybe it’s the constant need to be always on top of the market, to create that recall so that people will not forget your brand. Maybe it’s a marketing tool. Whatever it is, the idea that Dianne Von Furstenberg, or DVF, releasing a music album is one that elicits quite a few surprised reaction.
The designer doesn’t sing or isn’t a performer. So what is she doing with it?
Sources say, the album will include choice cuts that from singers the designer love to listen to. So, no she won’t be singing or switching careers, she will just be compiling some of her well-loved songs to share with you.
These songs are from artist like Annie Lennox, Joss Stone and many more and the album is entitled “Proud To Be A Woman”. To be released on March 8, to celebrated the International Women’s Day, proceeds of sale so of this album will go to charities DVF supports.
It’s a good idea, right?
